Hibiscus. If the plant has many buds, each will open for just one day. Then that flower will curl up and die, but the next one may open soon after.

There is a flower called ';Lady of the Night'; because it blooms only once and it begins to open at about 11:00PM is a white flower and has a wonderful perfume. My mother used to cut it and put it in the refrigerator so it could last at least three days.
