Yes given time he will eat all the algae. But he should not be forced to eat just the algae in the tank alone because he will not get enough nutrients from that alone. Go to the store and purchase a bag of algae disks and after about a week start throwing them in 1 every other day or so. Cut back on the feeding then if the algae gets worse.

As always though I have to recommend you use less light in the tank, do more water changes and buy an algae scrub brush and deal with the algae before you buy a fish. Fish are never a good substitute for regular aquarium maintenance practices.

Good LuckWould a 2'; ottocinculus be enough to clean a month old algae bloom?
One oto will not be enough but the algae will keep its belly full. Maybe a group will be able to clear it. If you really want the tank to be free of algae, you have to clean it yourself.

The picture you posted does not like like an ottocinculus. They look like this http://www.erdingtonaquatics.com/tropfis鈥?/a>
Depends on how big the tank is.One other thing is otos should not be kept alone. You should have at least 3 of them in one tank.
