Can you cut Holly Hocks down after they bloom?

Will they come back? They look so ugly with just the seed pods hanging on. Thanks, :) ArumCan you cut Holly Hocks down after they bloom?
Yes they will come back next year but this type of plant is called a biannual which means that the parent plant won't last but a few years before dieing off. If you let the seeds mature and fall to the ground next year you'll have lots of small plants that will take the place of the parent plant. This is one of my favorites. I use to make money on them by potting the small plants up and taking them to a local nursery for sale or trade. This is an old world plant that most people don't even mess with anymore. It's good to here some folks still have them. Keep them going, it's a gift. Can you cut Holly Hocks down after they bloom?
Yes they will come back. But you should let them send the energy back to the roots first. Also the seeds may not have time to mature.
