While in VA Beach, I saw trees that had dark pink blooms that looked like clumps of grapes. What are they?

I'm in another southern state, so I can't say for sure but they sound like crepe myrtle trees.While in VA Beach, I saw trees that had dark pink blooms that looked like clumps of grapes. What are they?
