I transplanted some daffodils and now they won't bloom. They come up, but don't get any flowers. What could be the problem? Why won't my daffodils bloom?
Has this happened numerous years, or just one year? Sometimes, bulbs don't bloom the first year they are transplanted. If they were very crowded before you moved them, and a lot of the bulbs were quite small (these small bulbs are called ';offsets';), then the bulbs may need a year of growth before they are ';bloom-size'; bulbs. But they almost always bloom from the second year on, as long as you leave the green leaves on the plant until it dies back naturally so the bulb can get ready for next year. Why won't my daffodils bloom?
Do you cut off the leaves when they start looking bad? Let them stay on until they dry up because the leaves feed the bulb. You might try fertilizing them.
Also you may have transplanted them when they weren't dormant and disrupted their cycle.
